Just like many public citizens without medical degrees can have training in CPR, some doctors are suggesting people should also have training in how to stop bleeding, especially in emergencies like mass shootings. Most doctors agreed that a widely available 15-minute course on bleeding control would be extremely beneficial for public health. This initiative started in the wake of mass casualty events like Sandy Hook, and would cover techniques for stopping bleeding quickly as well as safety issues around touching blood and avoiding infections.
