High school students may feel alone when diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, but you are not alone. There are others just like you who understand how you feel. It might be hard for you to ask for help. But, you must ask for help. Being overwhelmed with medical conditions can feel like the world is on your shoulders. You need people to bring you back to life. I would be a complete mess if I didn’t have someone with me to help me through my struggles.
- It’s important to reach out and find even one or two persons you can trust to give you emotional support as you adjust to the condition.
- Expect that there may be days when you are benched from the game, or fail a test, because of your health, and know it’s okay.
- Find a hobby that allows you to shine and remember you are much more than your condition.
“I was scared, I didn’t know what to do next, and I felt alone, but through these past few years, it’s taught me so much.”
